No. 13 IU East's Campbell nabs RSC Women's Basketball Player of the Week
NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- No. 13 IU East had Mackenzie Campbell put together a big scoring week to pick up River States Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Nov. 6-13. It is the first women's basketball weekly award of the season.
Campbell, a junior from Rushville, Ind., averaged 18.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per game while shooting 60 percent from the field and 89 percent from the foul line in a 3-0 week for the Red Wolves. IU East improved to 5-0 for the first time in team history with wins over No. 23 Olivet Nazarene and NCAA Division II programs Ohio Valley and Salem International.
Campbell put up 27 points on 8 of 12 from the field and 11 for 13 from the free-throw line in a 121-118 win over ONU. She had 10 points and six rebounds at Ohio Valley, a 91-54 win. She then had 18 points and six rebounds in a 74-69 win at Salem International. She made 9 of 10 foul shots in that game and 24 of 27 for the week.
During the week, Campbell went over 1,000 points for her career. IU East has its next game Tuesday at No. 1 Marian (Ind.).
