#9 IU East gets Smith as RSC Men's Basketball Player of the Week
NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- No. 9 IU East had sophomore Bishop Smith shoot his way to River States Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week Nov. 20-26.
The 5-9 guard from Indianapolis, Ind., averaged 17.3 points per game while shooting 52 percent from the field and 55 percent from 3-point range (12 for 22) in three games last week. He put up a pair of 20-point games in Top 25 wins over No. 12 Robert Morris (Ill.) and No. 25 Warner (Fla.) at the NAIA DII Showcase in Kingsport, Tenn., this past weekend.
Smith totaled 22 points on 6 of 10 from long range in a 103-74 win over No. 12 Robert Morris. He followed with 20 points, five rebounds and 5 of 9 from the outside in a 74-65 win over No. 25 Warner. He had started the week with 10 points and five assists in a victory over Fisk (Tenn.).
IU East (9-2) will play at Ohio Christian Dec. 2 for its next game.
