WVU Tech's Shamblin picks up RSC Women's Basketball Player of the Week
NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- WVU Tech junior guard Savannah Shamblin picked up River States Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors for Dec. 4-10 with her big game in a Golden Bears victory.
Shamblin, a 5-3 native of Cross Lanes, W.Va., scored 28 points in an 81-74 win over Cumberlands (Ky.), the only game of the week for the Golden Bears. She made 9 of 17 field goals, knocked down three 3-pointers and made 7 of 10 free throws. She also added four assists, three rebounds and two steals.
Shamblin reached the 1,000-career points milestone in the victory, which handed Cumberlands (Ky.) (9-2) its second loss of the year. WVU Tech (7-6, 2-0 RSC) hosts Ohio Christian for its next game on Wednesday.
