RICHMOND, Ind. - Tia King was speechless.

The leading scorer for the Indiana University East women's basketball program was looking a photo of herself. On Page 25. In the newest issue of Sports Illustrated.

"I'm at a loss for words, which is rather rare for me," King said. "Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought this would happen to me."

King, a senior in the IU East women's basketball program, appears in the Dec. 4 issue of Sports Illustrated in the magazine's "Faces in the Crowd" feature.

King was recognized for becoming the first IU East NAIA basketball player with 2,000 career points.

"All glory goes to God," King continued. "This isn't just my accomplishment - this is my team, community, and family's accomplishment - We did it! This is for you Jordan Hankins." (Hankins was a Northwestern University athlete from King's hometown of Indianapolis who passed away earlier this year).

King, a two-time All-American, is 20th in the NAIA Division II with 18.2 points per game this season. She is on schedule to graduate this spring with a bachelor's degree in communication with a minor in Spanish.

IU East is 8-2 this year and ranked 13th in the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Coaches Poll.

"I'm just trying to enjoy this final ride here at IU East. This really gives the extra push and confidence to keep making my family friends and this community proud of this team," King said.

King and the Red Wolves play at the University of Rio Grande on Dec. 12.
