No. 20 IU East's King posts RSC Women's Basketball Player of the Week honor again
FLORENCE, Ky. -- For the third time this season, No. 20 IU East has junior guard Tia King as the River States Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, this time for Feb. 6-12.
A 5-9 native of Indianapolis, Ind., King averaged 32.5 ppg, 7.0 rpg, shot 50 percent overall and 57 percent from 3-point range as the Red Wolves went 2-0 last week. She also made 74 percent of her free throws.
King tied a career-high with 36 points in a 106-96 win at Rio Grande. She made 4 of 7 treys and 14 of 19 free throws in that game and also added seven rebounds. She then put in 29 points, made another 4 of 7 from the outside and collected seven rebounds and four assists in a 90-72 win over WVU Tech.
King leads RSC and ranks 13th in NAIA Division II with 18.5 ppg. She has made 80 3-pointers and is shooting 45 percent from the field. She has IU East at 24-5 overall, 15-1 RSC and leading the conference and the RSC East Division.
IU East has its next game Feb. 18 at Ohio Christian to close out the regular season.
