FLORENCE, Ky. -- Point Park University sophomore Anna Shields has pushed her River States Conference Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honors to four in a row with the award for Feb. 6-12.

Shields, from Torrington, Conn., ran the 1,000 meters in a time of 2 minutes 49 seconds to win at the Baldwin Wallace Mid February meet on Friday. That time knocked off eight seconds from her already No. 1 time in the NAIA this year and set a facility record that dated back to 1991.

Shields also ran the anchor leg of the Pioneers' 4x400 meter relay team, which won first place with a time of 4:18. The event wins helped Point Park win the team title at the meet.

Shields has qualified for the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championship in six events -- the 800, 1,000, mile, 3,000, 5,000 and the distance medley relay. She ranks in the Top 10 of the NAIA in all six events including No. 1 in the 1,000, mile and 5,000.
