WVU Tech's Boone claims RSC Men's Basketball Player of the Week Feb. 13-19
FLORENCE, Ky. -- WVU Tech guard Elisha Boone averaged a double-double in the final weekend of the regular season to claim River States Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week from Feb. 13-19.
Boone, a 6-4 junior from Queens, N.Y., averaged 19.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game while shooting 71 percent from the field in a 2-0 week for the Golden Bears. He also shot 50 percent from long range and made 6 of 10 free throws.
Boone put in 13 points in just 18 minutes in a 139-72 win over Carlow on Friday night. He made 4 of 5 field goals in that game. Boone finished off the weekend with 25 points and 21 rebounds on 11-for-16 shooting in a 103-92 win over Point Park.
For the year, Boone is averaging 15.1 ppg, 8.2 rpg and is shooting 49.8 percent from the field. He has helped WVU Tech to a No. 11-ranking in the last NAIA DII Top 25 Poll and 14-3 RSC for second place in the RSC East Division.
WVU Tech plays hosts to Asbury University in the first round of the RSC Men's Basketball Tournament Feb. 22 at 7 p.m.
