Point Park's Shields makes it five straight for RSC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
FLORENCE, Ky. -- Point Park University's Anna Shields had an impressive meet at the Kent State Tuneup Feb. 18 to win River States Conference Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for Feb. 13-19. It is the fifth week in a row she has won the award.
In the same meet, Shields had the No. 1-ranked mile and the No. 3-ranked 800 meters in the NAIA indoor rankings this year. She started out by shaving a few more seconds off her already top-ranked time in the mile and now comes in at 4:49.
Shields then ran the 800 meters and moved into No. 3 in the NAIA with a time of 2:12, a school and personal record. The mile and 800 are two of the six events that Shields has qualified the NAIA national indoor meet four. She will run multiple events at the NAIA indoor meet on March 2-4 in Johnson City, Tenn.
