No. 22 WVU Tech has Boone rise up to RSC Men's Basketball Player of the Week
FLORENCE, Ky. -- No. 22 WVU Tech had junior guard Elisha Boone average a double-double in two victories last week to win River States Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 30-Feb. 5.
The 6-4 native of Queens, N.Y., recorded 19.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game while shooting 61 percent from the field in two victories on the week for the Golden Bears. He also made 10 of 12 free throws for 83 percent.
Boone started off with 28 points, 13 rebounds and 10 for 14 field goals in anm 82-61 win at non-conference Bluefield State. He then made it another double-double with 11 points, 12 rebounds and five assists in an RSC victory over Rio Grande, 90-68.
For the year, Boone is averaging 15.2 ppg and 7.8 rpg. The Golden Bears have won 11 games in a row to stand at 20-5 overall and 12-1 RSC. WVU Tech has its next game Feb. 7 at Ohio Christian.
