Rio Grande's Criner hits her way to RSC Softball Player of the Week March 6-12

FLORENCE, Ky. -- University of Rio Grande infielder Michaela Criner hit .583 in four games last week to hit her way to River States Conference Softball Player of the Week March 6-12.

Criner, a freshman from Lancaster, Ohio, collected seven hits in 12 at bats, tripled three times, scored four runs and tallied seven RBIs. Rio Grande won three of those four games, including an 11-2 victory over NCAA DII Ohio Valley and a 3-1 victory over NAIA No. 8 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.).

Criner tripled in three different games, had three multi-hit games and three games with multiple RBIs. Her slugging percentage for the week was 1.083. For the year, she is leading the RedStorm with a batting average of .394, and she also has 10 RBIs.

Rio Grande, ranked No. 24 in the NAIA Top 25, is 11-6 overall and has its next games March 18 at Montreat (N.C.).
