Midway's Quinones picks up RSC Baseball Player of the Week March 13-19
FLORENCE, Ky. -- Midway University first baseman/pitcher Hector Quinones picked up River States Conference Baseball Player of the Week with his big performance in a series sweep over Ohio Christian.
Quinones, a senior from Barceloneta, Puerto Rico, batted .333 in four games last week with one home run, two doubles and six RBIs. He had six hits in 18 at bats and slugged .611.
Quinones also got some action on the mound as a pitcher. In that outing, he tossed a no-hitter in the final game of the series, an 11-0 win. He capped off his performance in a series by hitting a grand slam in the same game as the no-hitter.
For the year, he is hitting .303 with three homers and 16 RBIs. On the mound, Quinones is 2-2 in seven starts with a 1.99 ERA in 31.2 innings pitched.
Midway is 12-12 overall, 9-3 RSC and plays again March 21 versus Campbellsville.
