NAIA Indoor Track & Field Recap: RSC nabs 7 NAIA All-Americans, 1 NAIA champ

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- The River States Conference was well-represented at the NAIA Men's & Women's Indoor Track & Field National Champioships held this weekend in Johnson City, Tenn. The RSC had 15 individuals and one relay competing, and it came up with seven NAIA All-Americans and one NAIA national champion.

Headlining the River States Conference performances was the University of Rio Grande's Tyanna Petty, who won the NAIA national championship in the women's high jump. The Somerset, Ohio, native became Rio Grande's first female individual national champion.Petty cleared 5'9-3/4" to win the title, outdistancing runner-up Chelsea Baker of Friends (Kan.) University, who finished at 5'8-1/2".

Petty, whose qualifying mark of 5'5" was 12th-best nationally, also bettered the previous indoor school record of 5'7", which she set last year, and topped the school's outdoor record of 5'8-1/2" set by Tiffany Park in 1984 in the process.

The following are the NAIA All-Americans from the River States Conference at the NAIA indoor national championship meet. The RSC Men's & Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be April 29 in Pittsburgh hosted by Point Park University.

Anna Shields (Point Park) -- Women's Mile -- 2nd Place

Anna Shields (Point Park) -- Women's 1,000 M -- 2nd Place

Luke Jobson (WVU Tech) -- Men's 3,000 M Race Walk -- 3rd Place

Seth Reynolds (IU East) -- Men's 60 M Hurdles -- 6th Place

Ben Martinez (Rio Grande) -- Men's 600 M -- 6th Place

Jryi Davis (Point Park) -- Men's Triple Jump -- 6th Place

Ariel Young (Ohio Christian) -- Women's 5,000 M -- 8th Place
