#RSCSOFTBALL Games of the Week: Brescia (4-0 RSC) at #24 Rio Grande (4-0 RSC)

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Two teams that started out 4-0 in conference play square off for the River States Conference Softball Games of the Week when Brescia (Ky.) University plays the No. 24 University of Rio Grande (Ohio) in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 1 at 1 p.m. ET.

Rio Grande (20-6, 4-0 RSC), ranked No. 24 in the NAIA Softball Top 25 Poll, and Brescia (10-9, 4-0 RSC), both enter the weekend a perfect 4-0 in conference play. Both teams went perfect last weekend, the opening games of the conference schedule.

Rio Grande opened up RSC play last weekend beating Ohio Christian and Cincinnati Christian twice each. The RedStorm lead the conference is just about every big statistical category including batting average (.321), team ERA (2.38), opponent batting average (.222) and fielding percentae (.964). Pitchers Kelsey Conkey (7-1, 1.26) and Jenna Jones (5-3, 1.97 ERA, 2 SV) are the top arms.

Brescia has won six in a row, including sweeping doubleheaders over Midway and Asbury last weekend. The Bearcats came out with wins of 5-4 and 2-1 (eight innings) over Midway and wins by 5-0 and 6-2 over Asbury. Brescia hits .266 as a team, Shelby Franklin is the top pitcher with a 6-3 record in 10 starts and a 2.97 ERA.
