Point Park's Carter leaps to RSC Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week with NAIA bid
FLORENCE, Ky. -- Point Park University triple jumper Tyler Carter hit the NAIA's top standard to pick up River States Conference Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week April 10-16.
Carter, a freshman from Penn Hills, Pa., met the NAIA "A" qualifying standard by placing third in the triple jump at the NCAA Division I Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic this past weekend. His leap of 14.57 meters tied a school record and guaranteed him a spot at the NAIA outdoor national championships. He had previously reached the NAIA "B" standard this year.
Carter and the Pioneers compete next at the SRU Open April 20, an NCAA Division II event.
