Point Park's Stephens takes home RSC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

FLORENCE, Ky. -- Point Park University freshman Xavier Stephens is the River States Conference Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week April 10-16 after his busy week of performances.

Stephens, from Uniontown, Pa., set school records in both the 800 and 1,500 meters on the week and competed at two different meets. He capped off the week at the NCAA Division I Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic by placing 39th out of 142 athletes in the 800 meters with a school-record time of 1:55, which is just a few seconds off the NAIA standard.

He was also a part of the 4x800 relay team that was seventh at Bucknell and a few seconds shy of NAIA qualification. At the Geneva Invitatoinal earlier in the week, Stephens set a school record and placed second in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:09.27. He was also in the 4x400 relay team that placed first at the meet with a time of 3:27.76.

Point Park next competes April 20 at the SRU Open, a NCAA Division II events.
