Asbury's Alford nets RSC Women's Tennis Player of the Week April 10-16
FLORENCE, Ky. -- Asbury University's Sarah Beth Alford is the River States Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week April 10-16 after leading the Eagles to a 3-0 week as a team.
Alford was 5-1 in her matches, which included going 3-0 at No. 3 singles and 2-1 at No. 2 doubles for Asbury. The Eagles won all three of their matches on the week with conference wins over Midway, IU East and Carlow.
It was a key win over IU East, and Alford turned the match in the Eagles favor when she rallied for a 1-6, 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles. Asbury won the match, 7-2, and is now 9-3 overall, 5-0 RSC.
For the year, the senior from Carrollton, Ga., is 10-2 in singles and 7-5 in doubles. Asbury has its next match April 18 versus Union.
