Point Park's Shields wins another RSC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honor
FLORENCE, Ky. -- Point Park University sophomore Anna Shields added another River States Conference Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honor to her resume April 10-16.
Shields, from Torrington, Conn., placed highly in the 800 and 1,500 at the NCAA Division I Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic this past weekend. She was second in the 800 with a time of 2:09.41 and third in the 1,500 with a time of 4;22.35. Both of those times maintained her spot ranked No. 2 in the NAIA in each event, and they were both personal bests for the events.
Shields was the only runner from the 800 meters who also ran the 1,500 meters the night before, the first day of the meet. She beat runners from schools such as Penn State, West Virginia and Georgetown in the races.
Point Park has its next competition April 20 at the SRU Open, an NCAA Division II event.
