WILMORE, Ky. -- Both teams are looking move up the conference baseball playoff positioning in Week 7 of the River States Conference Baseball Games of the Week when the University of Rio Grande travles to play at Asbury University Friday and Saturday for a four-game series.
Rio Grande (29-17-1, 20-7-1 RSC) enters this the final weekend of the conference regular season in third place in the standings but just 1.5 games out of first place with four games to play. The RedStorm can still win first place with a good showing this weekend and some help elsewhere in the standings.
Asbury (18-31, 8-20 RSC) enters the weekend 1.0 game behind Brescia (9-19 RSC) for the sixth-and-final playoff spot in the conference. The Eagles need a big series at home in the final week to make up ground. Asbury does not have the tiebreaker versus Brescia, so the Eagles would need to make up 2.0 games in the standings to overtake Brescia for the final spot.

Rio Grande, which is once again on the verge of a 30-win season, won it series over Midway (Ky.) last weekend, 3 games to 1, to put itself within range of a possible divisional title currently. Asbury lost a series to WVU Tech, 3-1, last weekend to drop a game out of the playoffs as things stand.
The RSC Baseball Tournament is next week, May 5-9 in Chillicothe, Ohio, at VA Memorial Stadium. This weekend is the final chance for teams to qualify for set their playoff positioning.
