Rio Grande (Ohio) captures RSC Men's Track & Field team championship

MEET RESULTS

PITTSBURGH -- The University of Rio Grande captured the 2017 River States Conference Men's Track & Field team championship, the third straight conference title for the RedStorm. Rio Grande scored the most points at the RSC Track & Field Championships held Saturday, April 29 at the RMU Island Sports Center in Pittsburgh. The event was hosted by Point Park University.

Rio Grande scored 266 points in the meet to take first place. Point Park finished runner-up with 183 points, and it is the third year in a row that the Pioneers are runner-up to the RedStorm. WVU Tech finished third (84 points) followed by IU East (66), Ohio Christian (38) and Brescia (24).

The top six finishers in each event scored points. The top three in each even earned All-River States Conference Men's Track & Field honors and were awareded gold, silver and bronze medals at the meet. Click the Meet Results link above for complete results by event.

There were individual awards handed out as well with those voted on by the RSC's six men's track and field head coaches. Rio Grande took home three of the big awards with Brandon Massey named the RSC Men's Outstanding Track Athlete of the Year, William Messer named the RSC Men's Track & Field Newcomer of the Year and Bob Willey the RSC Men's Track & Field Coach of the Year. IU East's Tyler Hoodlebrink was named the RSC Men's Outstanding Field of the Year.
