Rio Grande (Ohio) claims RSC Women's Track & Field team title again

MEET RESULTS

PITTSBURGH -- The University of Rio Grande (Ohio) claimed the 2017 River States Conference Women's Track & Field team title on Saturday, April 29, the third straight conference championship for the RedStorm. The RSC Track & Field Championships were held in Pittsburgh, Pa., at the RMU Island Sports Center and hosted by Point Park (Pa.) University.

Rio Grande topped the final team standings with 257 points. Point Park finished runner-up with 209 points for its third year in a row taking second place. It was a battle throughout the day between the RedStorm and Pioneers with Rio Grande coming through with the difference in the end.

Ohio Christian placed third with 85 points followed by IU East (55 points), WVU Tech (44) and Brescia (Ky.) (1).

The top six finishers in each event scored points. The top three in each even earned All-River States Conference Women's Track & Field honors and were awareded gold, silver and bronze medals at the meet. Click the Meet Results link above for complete results by event.

The individual awards handed out were voted on the by the six RSC Women's Track & Field head coaches and presented at the meet. Team champion Rio Grande took home two big honors with RSC Women's Outstanding Field Athlete of the Year Kaitie Roberts and RSC Women's Track & Field Coach of the Year Bob Willey representing the RedStorm. The RSC Outstanding Women's Track Athlete of the Year went to Point Park's Anna Shields. The RSC Women's Track & Field Newcomer of the Year was won by Zarria Williams of Ohio Christian.
