RSC women's qualifiers competing at NAIA T&F National Championship

GULF SHORES, Ala. -- The River States Conference has seven women's athletes as individual qualifiers to the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship being held May 25-27 at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Ala.

Four of the six schools that compete in RSC women's outdoor track and field are represented at the NAIA outdoor meet. The competition begins on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with the women's heptathlon and continues with trials of running events and some throwing events later in the day. Point Park University's Anna Shields is the No. 1 seed in the 1,500 meters and the No. 2 seed in the 800 meters. University of Rio Grande's Tyanna Petty is ranked second in the heptahlon and seventh in the high jump. Petty was the NAIA indoor national champion in the high jump earlier this year.

Also there from the RSC are a couple more standouts from the conference with Rio Grande thrower Allison McNeal in the shot put, Ohio Christian University long jumper Zarria Williams and distance runner Ariel Young. WVU Tech's Ivy Aleshire is entered in the marathon along with Young, who is also in the 10,000 meters.
