Midway's Lawler finishes final round of NAIA National Championship

Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. – After weather played a factor in the first three days, Mother Nature cooperated on the final day and allowed golfers to finish the 2017 NAIA Women's Golf National Championship at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

The final round teed off at 7:30 a.m. EDT on a beautiful Friday morning at PGA National. The weather reached to the mid 80's with a light breeze allowing for a great final round.

The lone golfer for Midway remaining in the NAIA Women's Golf National Championship was Kathryn Lawler. The junior from Georgetown, Ky. shot an 82 in the final round to finish with a 240 overall in a tie for 39th place.

Lawler started her day on the back nine and opened with back-to-back pars, but she finished with a 6-over, 42 on the par 36 back nine. She improved on the front nine where she finished with a 4-over, 40 to finish with an 82 overall.

Oklahoma City shot a 17-over, 305 in the final round to pull away from USC Beaufort (S.C.) and Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) to win by eight strokes. Oklahoma City finished with a 925, while Embry-Riddle shot a 933 overall.

The individual National Title went to Courtney Dye from Indiana Tech. Dye shot a 71 in the final round to finish with a 222 overall and win by one stroke.

Lawler and the remainder of her teammates will now turn their attention to the offseason and get ready for next season.
