Asbury's Wiersema scores RSC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- Asbury (Ky.) University forward Mia Wiersema scored two goals in a single game last week to score River States Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 11-17.
Wiersema, a senior from Paducah, Ky., lifted the Eagles to a 3-1 win over Cumberlands (Ky.) with a pair of goals. She gave Asbury a 1-0 lead early on and then scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 21st minute for a 2-1 lead.
The victory pushed the Eagles to 5-2 on the year, and they play their next game Friday night at home to Spalding (Ky.).
