IU East's Mitchell takes home RSC Volleyball Setter of the Week Sept. 11-17
NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- IU East freshman Danielle Mitchell led the Red Wolves' offense in a big week to take home RSC Volleyball Setter of the Week honors for Sept. 11-17.
Mitchell, from Kalamazoo, Mich., averaged 10.27 assists per set to lead IU East to a 3-0 record overall and 2-0 RSC. A big match was 43 assists, 14 digs and three aces in a 3-1, RSC divisional win over Point Park. She also tallied 27 assists, nine digs and three aces in an RSC sweep of Carlow. The week began with 43 assists, nine digs and four kills in a 3-1 victory over Anderson.
IU East improved to 8-12 on the year with the 3-0 week. Mitchell also averaged 2.91 digs and compiled a .214 attack percentage for the week. IU East had three of its best hitting matches on the year under Mitchell's direction last week. The Red Wolves play at Taylor (Ind.) for their next match on Wednesday.
