RSC Women's Basketball Supervisor Lois Holmes nets NAIA "Larry Lady Officiating Award"
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The River States Conference proudly acknowledges that RSC Women's Basketball Supervisor of Officials Lois Holmes has been bestowed with the 2017-18 NAIA Larry Lady Officiating Award.
The award, which is named in honor of the former NAIA Coordinator of Officials for basketball, football and baseball, recognizes officials of outstanding quality, high moral character, fine officiating ability and who are held in high esteem by their colleagues, administrators and athletes.
Holmes has been the supervisor and assignor of women's basketball officials for the River States Conference (known as the KIAC prior to 2016) since 2006. She also serves the same function for fellow NAIA conference the Mid-South Conference. Holmes is also the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Coordinator of Officials.
"Lois is a true professional, and she has had such a positive impact on the individuals in our league," said RSC Interim Commissioner Joe Glover. "The NAIA couldn't have picked anyone better or more deserving for this award. Lois has given so much to the game of basketball, and I am glad that her contributions to the game are being recognized on a national level."
Holmes was named this year's award winner as part of the NAIA's National Awards Day, which was Sept. 15. On that day, the NAIA announced 21 honorees who received "the association's highest individual honors" in various categories.
According to the NAIA release, Holmes was recognized with the Larry Lady Officiating Award because "her contributions as an official and now as a coordinator have been instrumental in the growth of women's basketball officiating across the country. Lois' hard work and dedication at all levels of women's basketball, and especially the NAIA, are second-to-none."
