Point Park's Shields wins RSC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week
NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- Point Park University's Anna Shields is the River States Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the third time in three races run this year. The latest honor comes for Sept. 18-24.
Shields, a junior from Torrington, Conn., won the Lock Haven University Open with a time of 21:12 in the 6K-race. It beat the field by 29 seconds, and there were 19 teams and 230 runners in the race. Many teams were from NCAA Division I or II. It also set a 6K school record.
Shields has run three races this year with three individual titles and three conference weekly honors. She was NAIA national runner of the week the first two times.
Point Park's next meet is the Greater Louisville Classic Sept. 30 hosted by the University of Louisville.
