Point Park's Shields makes it three in a row for RSC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- Point Park University runner Anna Shields made it three weeks in a row for the River States Conference Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, this time winning for Jan. 22-28.
Shields' plaudit this week comes for her performance at the SPIRE Midwest Open, where she qualified for NAIA indoor nationals in the 600 meters with a first-place time of 1:33, which is a school record and ranks No. 1 in the country.
She also shaved two more seconds off her No. 1-ranked mile time in the NAIA to place third with a time of 4:43. Finally, she was a part of the Pioneers' 4x400 relay team that posted a time of 4:00 to qualify for the national indoor meet and rank eighth in the NAIA.
Shields has qualified for the national meet in the 600, 800, 1000, mile and 4x400. She ranks No. 1 in the country in the 600, 1000 and mile and second in the 800.
