KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Indiana University East men's basketball team earned the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team of the Week honor for the NAIA, the organization announced Jan. 9.
The Red Wolves were recognized for extending their current winning streak to 10 games last week with double-digit victories against No. 28 Asbury University and No. 36 Alice Lloyd College.
IU East is 16-2 overall and 5-0 in the River States Conference. The Red Wolves started the week ranked No. 3 in the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Coaches Poll, the loftiest ranking in program history.
The NABC's "Team of the Week" program is in its debut year. Each week, the organization spotlights a team for NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III, NJCAA and NAIA men's basketball. To qualify, a program's coach must be a member of the national coaches organization.
IU East plays at Point Park University on Jan. 9. The Red Wolves return home to face Carlow University on Jan. 13.
