IU East's Wigfield chosen RSC Volleyball Defender of the Week

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- IU East libero Samantha Wigfield was chosen as the River States Conference Volleyball Defender of the Week for her play Oct. 15-21, the third time she has won the weekly honor this season.

Wigfield, a sophomore from Ft. Wayne, Ind., had a big week in the back row with 49 total digs in two matches an average of 6.13 digs per set for the week. She had a career-high 34 digs in a big win over Asbury (Ky.), 3-2. She earlier had 15 digs in a win over Midway, 3-0.

Wigfield's week also included zero errors in 30 serve receptions and a serve percentage of .933. She helped improve the Red Wolves to 20-6 overall, 10-2 RSC. IU East plays St. Mary of the Woods on Tuesday.
