No. 16 Point Park's Shields adds RSC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Point Park University senior Anna Shields claimed her fourth River States Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week award of the season with her first-place finish at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge this past week.
Shields, from Torrington, Conn., posted a time of 17:48 to win the 5K-race by 14 seconds over the rest of the field. There were 238 runners and 20 teams in that race, which was the women's "maroon race" with many NAIA Top 25 teams in that category.
Shields led the Pioneers to sixth place as a team. It was her fourth event victory in five meets so far this year. The Pioneers have the RSC Championship for their next meet Nov. 3 hosted by Brescia (Ky.) University in Owensboro, Ky.
