IU Kokomo wins RSC Men's Golf Fall Preview, Brescia (Ky.) takes runner-up
FINAL RESULTS
FLORENCE, Ind. -- IU Kokomo won the team title at the River States Conference Men's Golf Fall Preview with a final round score of 311 on Tuesday. The Cougars won by five shots over Brescia (Ky.) University, which also fired a 311 in the final round but had its rally come up short.
The tournament was held at Belterra Golf Course and featured a total of 36 holes played across Monday and Tuesday. The event is a preview for the RSC Men's Golf Championship that will be held at the same venue in the spring.
IU Kokomo shot a 313 in the first round and was tied for the lead with Asbury (Ky.) University after 18 holes. The Cougars secured the team title by turning in what was the low round of the tournament along with Brescia on the final day.
Sam Seagrave led IU Kokomo to the victory by taking medalist honors. He opened with a 76 and closed with a 2-over 73 for a two-shot win over Daniel Steele of Brescia. Steele shot a 1-over 72 in the final round after starting with a 79. Cam Weddell placed fourth for IU Kokomo with two rounds of 79.
WVU Tech took third place on the strength of a team score of 312 on Tuesday. Asbury placed fourth with a final-round 326, and IU East was fifth with scores of 324 and 318. IU East's Tyler Pearson took third individually with a pair of 76s. Marcos Ezcurra (75-80) of Asbury and Rama Menne (81-74) of WVU Tech tied for fifth as the top finishers for their respective teams.
Midway (Ky.) University placed sixth (332-324) followed by Ohio Christian University (334-336), University of Rio Grande (Ohio) (340-332), Point Park (Pa.) University (346-331), Cincinnati Christian University (358-344) and Carlow (Pa.) University (397-391).
