IU East, Nowak in the lead after Rd 1 at RSC Women's Golf Preview
RD 1 RESULTS I FINAL RD PAIRINGS
FLORENCE, Ind. -- After 18 holes at the River States Conference Women's Golf Fall Preview on Monday, IU East is in the lead of the team standings by 11 shots, and the Red Wolves' Breanna Nowak has the individual lead by six shots.
The tournament is being played at Belterra Golf Course in Florence, Ind., and it offers a preview of the conference championship at the same course in the spring. The final round is Tuesday with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. ET.
IU East shot a team score of 330 to lead by 11 shots over Asbury (Ky.) University (341) and 14 shots over Midway (Ky.) University (344). In addition to Nowak's 1-over 72, IU East also had a strong round from Jo Wisecup, who stands in third place with an 80.
Asbury has two players in the top five with Hannah McCrabb and Faith Wiley tied for fourth after each shooting 81. Midway is not far behind and was led by Hannah Scroggins in second place with a 6-over 78.
IU Kokomo fired a 371 for fourth place, and Cincinnati Christian University is in fifth place with a 382. Brescia (Ky.) University (391), Point Park (Pa.) University (393) and University of Rio Grande (Ohio) (402) are the next team scores. Carlow had three players in its team score and shot 396.
Tuesday's shotgun start has the leaders go off of holes No. 1-5 with IU East, Asbury and Midway starting there. IU Kokomo, Cincinnati Christian and Brescia have their players start on holes No. 6-10. Starting on holes No. 11-17 are Point Park, Rio Grande and Carlow.
