Midway's Simpson named RSC Volleyball Defender of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Midway (Ky.) University libero Ashlee Simpson averaged 8.43 digs per set to earn River States Conference Volleyball Defender of the Week for Oct. 1-7, her second such honor of the year.
Simpson, a freshman from Somerset, Ky., collected 45 digs in a 3-1 win over CCU to start the week. She then had 14 digs in a 3-0 loss to IU Kokomo for a total of 59 digs in just two matches on the week. Simpson also had a perfect reception percentage and served at rate of .955.
Simpson ranks fourth in the NAIA with 6.51 digs per set, and that leads the conference. Midway is 4-17, 2-5 RSC and plays host to Alice Lloyd (Ky.) on Tuesday for its next match.
