No. 20 IU Southeast's Johnson nabs RSC Men's Basketball Player of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- IU Southeast guard Jamie Johnson averaged 27.7 points per game in three victories last week to claim the first River States Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week award of the season. He did so for his play from Nov. 5-11.
A 6-0 senior from Louisville, Ky., Johnson totaled 83 points in the three games, all wins for the Grenadiers. He averaged 6.3 assists, 4.3 steals and 3.0 rebounds along with his big scoring output. He shot 53 percent from the field, 36 percent from long range and 73 percent from the foul line.
Johnson had a huge game of 33 points, 11 assists, six steals, four rebounds and 4 for 10 from long range in a 108-106 win over College of the Ozarks. He also had 29 points, six assists, four steals, three rebounds and three treys in an 89-72 victory over Michigan-Dearborn. Johnson's week started out with 21 points in just 17 minutes in a win over Boyce College.
The Grenadiers are 4-1 and play at Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) on Tuesday night.
