(RV) IU East's Worland named RSC Women's Basketball Player of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- (RV) IU East forward Amanda Worland averaged 17.5 points per game and shot 84 percent from the field to claim River States Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Nov. 5-11, the first award of the new season.
A 5-11 sophomore from Mooresville, Ind., Worland scored a combined 35 points in two games last week, and she shot a blistering 16 for 19 from the field for 84.2 percent. She also averaged 7.0 points, 1.0 assist, 1.0 block and 1.0 steal per game.
Worland totaled 17 points, nine rebounds and two blocks and made 8 of 11 field goals in a 58-55 victory over No. 14 St. Francis (Ind.). Earlier in the week, she posted 18 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals and a perfect 8 for 8 from the floor in a loss to No. 18 Olivet Nazarene (Ill.).
IU East (1-3) has played a NAIA Top 25 team in every game so far, and that continues Tuesday night versus No. 4 Marian (Ind.).
