WVU Tech guard Shamblin claims RSC Women's Basketball Player of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- WVU Tech senior guard Savannah Shamblin led the NAIA Division II Showcase in scoring and assists over the weekend to claim River States Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Nov. 19-25.
The Cross Lanes, W.Va., native averaged 23.5 points, 8.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game to lead the Golden Bears to a 2-0 record at the classic in Kingsport, Tenn. Shamblin was 16 for 32 from the field and 6 for12 from long range for 50 percent on all field goals. She added 82 percent (9 for 11) from the foul line.
Shamblin's weekend included 23 points, eight assists and three steals in a 100-94 victory over Robert Morris (Ill.). She also had 24 points, eight assists and five 3-pointers in an 81-64 win versus Union (Ky.).
WVU Tech (3-5) is at Ohio Christian on Wednesday night for its RSC opener.
