No. 15 IU Southeast's Johnson nets RSC MBB Player of the Week
NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- No. 15 IU Southeast's Jamie Johnson averaged 28.0 points per game in two victories for the Grenadiers to claim River States Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 5-11.
A 6-0, sophomore guard from Louisville, Ky., Johnson led IU Southeast to a pair of RSC wins with averages of 28.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He shot 60 percent from the field (21 for 35) and 62 percent from long range (8 for 13).
Johnson started out with 24 points, four rebounds, five assists and three steals in a 95-81 win over Alice Lloyd. He then totaled 32 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in a 93-83 victory over (RV) Asbury. The win over Asbury included 7 for 10 from the 3-point arc.
IU Southeast (18-7, 12-3 RSC) moved closer to the RSC West Division title with the victories and begins its three-game week at home to Midway on Tuesday.
