Hearn's 59-point game nets RSC MBB Player of the Week for Ohio Christian
NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- Ohio Christian University senior Jalen Hearn had a 59-point game and an NAIA record for 3-pointers in a single contest to claim River States Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week from Feb. 12-18. It is the final weekly award of the season and the second one this year for Hearn.
A 6-0 native of Columbus, Ohio, Hearn poured in his school-record 59 points on Senior Night versus Point Park. In that game, he drained an NAIA record 19 3-pointers, which broke the previous record of 18. He was 19 for 26 from 3-point range, and he led the Trailblazers to setting an NAIA team record with 37 made treys.
For the week, he totaled 80 points in two games and had averages of 40.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. He shot 66 percent (27 for 41) from the floor and 69 percent (22 for 32) from outside the arc. The final game of the week featured 21 points, 11 rebounds and six assists at No. 2 IU East.
Ohio Christian (12-16, 8-9 RSC) is the No. 3 playoff seed from the RSC East and plays at No. 2 IU Kokomo from the RSC West in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament Feb. 21.
