NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- Point Park University sophomore Xavier Stephens qualified for the NAIA indoor national meet to earn another River States Conference Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honor for Feb. 12-18.

A native of Uniontown, Pa., Stephens hit the NAIA 'B' qualifying standard in the 1,000 meters and placed second at the Kent State Tune Up. His time of 2:30.54 on the oversized track qualified him for the national meet, the first qualification of his career.

Stephens also ran the 800 meters at Kent State and placed eighth with a time of 1:56.39, which just missed national qualification in that event. Next up for him is the NAIA meet March 1-3 in Pittsburg, Kan.
