WVU Tech's Belinda hits his way to RSC Baseball Player of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- WVU Tech first baseman Wyatt Belinda hit .706 in five games to claim River States Conference Baseball Player of the Week for March 5-11.
Belinda, a senior from Alexandria, Pa., batted 12 for 17 and hit safely in all five games to win the award. He collected two doubles, a triple, six RBIs and four runs. Belinda also walked five times and slugged .941 for the week.
Belinda had three games with three hits, which included going 3 for 4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs in a 9-7 win over Pikeville (Ky.). In an RSC series win over Ohio Christian, he was 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs in an 8-7 victory and 3 for 3 with an RBI in an 8-1 victory.
WVU Tech is now 6-15 overall, 2-4 RSC after the week. The Golden Bears play at Warner (Fla.) for their next game on Tuesday, March 13.
