Rio Grande's Nichols picks up RSC Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- University of Rio Grande thrower Alex Nichols qualified for the NAIA national meet and won two events at the University of Charleston Relays to pick up River States Conference Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for March 19-25.
The senior from Pickerington, Ohio, placed first in both the shot put and the discus, and he qualified for NAIAs in the shot put by hitting the national standard. Nichols' toss of 15.47 meters in the shot put won his event, as did his throw of 42.98 meters in the discus.
Rio Grande competes at the April Fools Invitational at Otterbein on March 30.
