MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- University of Rio Grande pitcher Kelsey Conkey showed that she can hit, too, by claiming River States Conference Softball Player of the Week for March 19-25.

Conkey, a junior from Minford, Ohio, and the RSC Softball Pitcher of the Week the last two weeks, hit .750 with a home run and five RBIs for this past week. Conkey had three hits in her four official at bats, walked three times and had a slugging percentage of 1.500.

She was 1 for 2 with a homer, three RBIs and two walks in a 4-0 win over IU Southeast. She was also 2 for 2 with two RBIs and one walk in a 5-2 win over the Grenadiers. The victories kept Rio Grande in first place and unbeaten in the conference.

Rio Grande (19-8, 6-0 RSC) is "receiving votes" in the NAIA Softball Top 25. The RedStorm travels to WVU Tech on March 30.
