MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Point Park University runner Anna Shields posted the No. 1 time in the NAIA in the 5,000 meters to claim River States Conference Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for March 19-25.

Shields, a junior from Torrington, Conn., ran a personal/school record in the 5K with a time of 16:28 to place first at the Cal U Early Bird Invitational. It was a facility record at the NCAA Division II meet and the top time currently in the NAIA. Shields knocked 19 seconds off her previous best in the event, which came when she placed third at the Ohio State Jesse Owens Classic last year.

Point Park's next meet is March 31 at the Bethany (W.Va.) Invitational.
