Midway's Yates earns RSC Softball Pitcher of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Midway University freshman Alyssa Yates worked two complete-game wins last week to earn River States Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for April 2-8.
A native of Georgetown, Ky., Yates beat No. 20 Lindsey Wilson, 7-5, and beat WVU Tech, 6-1, and she pitched 7.0 innings both times. She compiled a 1.50 ERA in 14 innings on the week.
Yates' outing versus nationally ranked Lindsey Wilson included only three earned runs allowed. She allowed just one run and no earned runs in the RSC victory over WVU Tech. Yates struck out five and walked three on the week.
Midway is now 12-13 overall and 5-3 RSC after Monday's split versus (RV) Rio Grande. Yates threw 5.0 shut-out innings and gave up just two hits in the first game, a 10-0 win for the Eagles.
