(RV) IU Southeast's Lugo slugs his way to RSC Baseball Player of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- (RV) IU Southeast outfielder Nicholas Lugo hit .647 with three home runs in four games last week to earn River States Conference Baseball Player of the Week for April 2-8.
A senior from Hatillo, Puerto Rico, Lugo batted 11 for 17 to lead the Grenadiers to a 3-1 record on the week. He had eight extra-base hits with five doubles along with his three homers. He drove in eight runs, scored eight times, walked twice and was 3 for 3 in stolen bases.
Lugo was 5 for 5 with a home run, two doubles and five RBIs in a 16-5 win over Asbury. He had two homers and a double and went 3 for 5 in an 8-7 loss to Asbury. Another multi-hit game had a 2-for-4 performance in another win over Asbury. He doubled in all four games on the week.
IU Southeast is 27-8 overall, 16-2 RSC and plays host to Miami-Middleton on Tuesday.
