No. 18 Asbury has Sparks earn RSC Men's Tennis Player of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- No. 18 Asbury University had freshman Tanner Sparks pick up River States Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for April 16-22 after going 6-0 on the week.
The Nicholasville, Ky., native was 3-0 at No. 3 doubles and 3-0 at No. 6 singles as Asbury won all three matches in which he played by a team score of 9-0. Asbury was 4-0 overall on the week and 3-0 RSC to finish off the regular-season conference title at 5-0 RSC.
Sparks was a part of doubles victories over Midway and Ohio Christian that both came by a score of 8-0. He was also a part of an 8-4 doubles win over Georgetown. In singles play, he won his matches versus Midway and Ohio Christian by scores of 6-0, 6-0, and he won over Georgetown, 6-2, 6-0.
Asbury is 13-1 overall and heads into the RSC Men's Tennis Championships April 27-28 in Mason, Ohio, as the No. 18 team in the NAIA.
