RSC Men's Tennis Championship Day 1 Recap: Eagles, Grenadiers to meet in finals

MASON, Ohio - Day 1 of the River States Conference Men's Tennis Championship on Friday produced the championship final of Asbury University versus Indiana University Southeast. The Eagles will meet the Grenadiers on Saturday, April 28.
The championship match will start at 1 p.m. at the Lindner Family Tennis Center, home of the Western & Southern Open professional tennis tournament. The start time was moved back due to expected cold conditions.
Asbury defeated Midway in the semifinal round while IU Southeast bested Indiana University East in the semis. Asbury is the defending men's RSC Tennis Tournament champion. The Eagle men are ranked 19th in the nation and bring a 14-1 record into the championship round. The IU Southeast men are 10-9.

IU East dropped one total game in three doubles wins and then got singles wins from No. 2 Max Faundez and No. 5 Vicente Herrera to reach the semifinal round for the fourth year in a row.
Midway 5, Ohio Christian 1 -- Results
Midway emerged from a closely contest doubles round with a 2-1 lead, but wrapped up the team win quickly with wins at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 6 singles. The Eagles won a conference tournament match in the first season for the school's men's program.
Semifinals
Asbury 5, Midway 0 -- Results
Asbury lost just two total games in the five completed matches. Luiz Gustavo Hartkopf won at No. 4 and Tanner Sparks won at No. 6 for the Eagles.
IU Southeast 5, IU East 0 -- Results
A doubles sweep, including an impressive win by Garrett Fensler and Brock Winchell at No. 1, put the Grenadiers in a commanding position. Singles wins by No. 3 Winchell and No. 4 Dane Baldwin conluded the match.
