BRACKET I SCORE SHEET

MASON, Ohio - Alejandra Diaz' comeback win in the final set of the final match lifted the Asbury (Ky.) University women's tennis team to a 5-4 victory against Indiana University Southeast on April 28 in the River States Conference Women's Championship final match.

Diaz rallied from a 5-3 deficit in the final set to win 1-6, 6-4, 7-5 against Dana Frank at No. 2 singles.

Asbury (13-3) won the RSC tournament for the third year in a row. IU Southeast finishes 11-9.

Diaz' win was the final twist in a back-and-forth title match.

IU Southeast led 2-1 after doubles play, winning at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Diaz and Kendall Jablonowski rallied for an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles that proved critical as the afternoon went on.

Asbury jumped back in from 3-2 after quick wins by Jablonowski at No. 3 singles and Jana Schmank at No. 4 singles.

IU Southeast went back in front 4-3 after victories by Camille Greenwell at No. 5 singles and Jeannie Soto at No. 6 singles.

Asbury No. 1 and RSC player of the year Caitlyn Conyers wrapped up her win midway through the third set of the Diaz-Frank match to tie the match at four wins apiece.

With all eyes on the No. 2 singles match and the team title at stake, Diaz fought back from 4-1 and 5-3 deficits to clinch the victory for the Eagles.

Asbury advances to the NAIA Tennis National Championships in Mobile, Ala., starting May 15.

The RSC tournament was played at the Lindner Family Tennis Center, site of the Western & Southern Open professional tennis tournament.
