Point Park's Montero wins RSC Baseball Player of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Point Park University third baseman Erik Montero hit .600 in six games last week to win River States Conference Baseball Player of the Week for Marc 26-April 1.
The junior from Miami, Fla., was 9 for 15 with eight runs and nine RBIs on the week. He had four multi-hit games of the six on the week, and he also collected three doubles, four walks and two stolen bases on the week. Montero slugged .800 in series sweeps over Asbury and Ohio Christian.
Montero had a big weekend versus OCU going 7 for 9 with six runs, three doubles and seven RBIs in the three games. In the series versus Asbury, he was 2 for 6 with four walks, two runs and two RBIs.
Point Park is 25-2, 15-0 RSC and visits Seton Hill on April 3 for its next game.
