Point Park's Shields repeats as RSC Women's Track Athlete of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Point Park University runner Anna Shields ran two more No. 1 times in the NAIA to repeat as River States Conference Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for March 26-April 1.
The junior from Torrington, Conn., ran the top-ranked time in the NAIA in both the 800 and the 1,500 to win both events at the Bethany (W.Va.) Invitational. Her time of 2:09.48 in the 800 was just off her school record, and her time of 4:21.71 in the 1,500 broke her school record. Both performances were facility records at Bethany.
She also ran a leg of Point Park's winning 4x400 relay, which had a time of 4:07.55. Point Park gets back into action April 7 at the Slippery Rock Invitational.
